A Love Story That Started in Lockdown

Some love stories start with a meet cute. This one started with a house hunt. Nick was relocating to the Sarasota area during the height of the pandemic, and Jourdan was his realtor. What was supposed to be a straightforward search for the right home turned into months of spending time together during lockdown, and somewhere in between showings, Nick knew she was the one. Jourdan, for her part, spent years performing as a Disney princess before all of this, so if anyone appreciates a well planned fairy tale ending, it’s her. “When you know, you know,” is how Nick put it when he first told us his plan.

The Setup

Nick told Jourdan they had a last minute dinner with business partners at Perspective, the rooftop bar atop Art Ovation Hotel, Autograph Collection in downtown Sarasota. In reality, he had reserved the entire top floor of the hotel for the evening. The ring itself came from Jourdan’s own parents’ jewelry business, hand-picked by Nick, which meant her parents were in on the secret from the very beginning.

The Moment

As the sun started to set over the gulf, Nick got down on one knee. Jourdan had no idea any of it was coming, and she told us afterward she was completely caught off guard. Once the yes and the hug were out of the way, her parents joined them on the rooftop, along with a few relatives on FaceTime and a round of champagne toasts. Art Ovation’s chef brought out a multi-course dinner, and the group stayed up on that rooftop late into the evening, sharing stories as the sky went from gold to dark.
