Becca & Logan | A Firefighter Wedding at Urban Stillhouse

There are venues that need a lot of help to look great in photos, and then there’s Urban Stillhouse. Becca and Logan chose The Urban Stillhouse by Horse Soldier in St. Petersburg’s Warehouse Arts District as the setting for their wedding, and the moment we walked in we knew this was going to be one of those nights we’d talk about for a while.

The story of how we got here is one of our favorites. Becca and Logan had toured Bakers Ranch and fallen in love with our work there. But when it came time to choose their own venue, Urban Stillhouse was the one that fit who they are. The moody brick, the amber candlelight, the bourbon-soaked atmosphere — it was theirs. They brought us along because they trusted what we could do, and then gave us a space that pushed us in the best possible way.

Both Becca and Logan are firefighters, and that changes the energy of a wedding day. These aren’t people who rattle easily. They were calm, they were present, they laughed constantly, and they made it easy to do our job. That kind of confidence in front of the camera shows up in every frame.

Urban Stillhouse is a 16,000 square foot space built around Horse Soldier bourbon, and it photographs unlike anything else in the Tampa Bay area. The exposed brick, the floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, the lantern-lit staircase, the copper still, the amber candlelight in every direction — the venue does most of the heavy lifting before a single decoration is added. Couples who book here get two ceremony options, a more intimate setup near the stone fireplace or a full layout running the length of the downstairs space in front of the bar, plus a two-story layout that gives us angles and depth most venues simply don’t have.

What pushed us here was the light, or more accurately, the absence of it. Low light is our favorite creative challenge. We had every watt of flash power working that night, the first time we’ve genuinely come close to running low in the field. But what that gave us in return was complete control over every frame. We decided what was lit and what stayed in the dark. Every image from Becca and Logan’s wedding feels intentional in a way that only a venue like Urban Stillhouse makes possible.
